Jacob checked the address again and
shrugged as he got out of the vehicle. He straightened his suit jacket and
looked up and down the street. No one was out, no cars, no kids, nothing. He
rapped on the door half expecting a maid or possibly a mistress to open the
door versus the Senator himself.
“Come in,” The Senator said, already
annoyed.
Jacob stepped inside and followed the
Senator down the hall to the living room. The house was already furnished in a
modern fashion. A lot of solid colors and unusual patterns. Abstract paintings
were on several walls and large plants were interspersed throughout the room.
It somehow didn't fit what he envisioned Michael living in. He took a seat
on the coach and crossed his legs as the Senator walked to the bar and poured
two drinks.
“So tell me why you bought this
again?”
He turned, “Public relations.”
“Seems ridiculous to buy from Bella’s
mom though.”
Newton smiled as he handed him a
tumbler of scotch. “Renee and I have,” he grinned slightly. “History. I need
her on my side.” He waved his hand in the air motioning around the room. “And
what better way than lining her pocket with a nice commission. And it’s all completely
legal of course.”
Jacob let out a loud laugh and
nodded. “Then I guess it was a good move.”
Newton smiled before bringing his
glass to his lips. “We do have a problem
though.”
Jacob took a gulp of the fine scotch.
“We have more than one problem right now,” he stated seriously.
“Yes, that’s true.” The Senator ran
his hand though his hair and sighed.
“Whitlock is my biggest concern..."
