Epilogue Teaser

“Daddy, I’m done,” Eddie said around a mouthful of food.

“Okay, little man, give me a minute.”

Edward finished his meal quickly, feeling his son’s eyes on him. And sure enough, no sooner had Edward pushed his chair back when Eddie jumped out of his seat and darted outside. With a laugh, Edward headed to the door. When he got outside his son was already on Edward's motorcycle with his helmet on, ready to go. Edward stepped up to his new Heritage Softail Classic and as he did so he glanced at his old Sportster, parked at the back of the garage. He had wanted to trade it in when he got his new one but Bella wouldn't let him. That thought brought a smile to his face as his mind drifted back.

“Helios, NO! You can’t sell this, ever! The first time we made love was on this bike,” she said running her hands along the seat. “We have had so many good memories on this bike. Please, we can't get rid of it.”

He came up close to her, pushing his hips against her ass. “Do you want to go on one last ride, Bella?”

Bella turned her head, her lip wedged between her teeth as she nodded.

“Come on, Daddy,” Eddie stated impatiently, effectively kicking Edward out of his daydream before it got to the good part.

Edward grinned and tapped Eddie’s helmet before throwing his leg over the bike. It started with a massive roar. He had decided on this particular style because it had a lot of power, looked fantastic and was more comfortable for a passenger. That was important, especially since he and Bella had taken to riding almost every weekend. Sometimes they went by themselves, other times with their friends. It had become something they did just for themselves.

Edward revved the engine several times, feeling Eddie shift behind him excitedly. He slowly glided out of their driveway and turned down the street. Eddie held on to his father firmly, just as he had been taught. Edward didn't need to see his son’s face to know that he was smiling. He had taken him on his first ride just four months ago and Eddie was hooked. That was definitely a trait he inherited from his father.

“You okay, son?” Edward asked. Eddie gave his father a thumb's up. “Should I go faster?” Another quick thumbs up and an excited head nod. “Hold on tight.”

Chapter 25 Teaser

“That wasn’t your first contraction was it?”

Bella chewed on her lip and shook her head. “I had two this morning before I lay on the couch.”

“Why didn’t you tell me?”

“Because, we’ve had so many false alarms this week I didn’t want to say anything until I was sure.”

“Bella…” he was stopped when Bella’s face contorted in pain.

He dropped his fork and scurried quickly to her. He started rubbing her back gently and a few minutes later she was breathing normally again.

“That was only 18 minutes from the last one. They’re closer together,” she said and as she started to stand, she felt liquid moving down her leg.

Edward followed her eyes and breathed in deeply. “We’re leaving!”

Bella only nodded as she sat back down. Edward darted into the bedroom and she could hear him on the phone as he came back out with her bag. He hung up and pocketed it before gingerly helping her up. His expression was determined as he led her to her car and helped her in. As much as he wanted to speed all the way to the hospital he knew that wasn’t necessary. They had time. At least that’s what he hoped. By the time they got to the hospital Bella was already starting to have another contraction.

“How far apart?”

“Eighteen minutes and her water just broke.”

The doctor nodded and they escorted them upstairs to the OB/GYN floor. After they checked her into her room Dr. Johnson came in and examined her.

“You’re dilated to five,” he said, looking between them. “That means the baby should be here sometime within the next 24 hours.”

Bella gripped Edward’s hand and he looked down at her. “Today.”

“Today!” she smiled.

Chapter 24: Overjoyed

It's the big day for Helios and Bella and Jasper and Alice. Yep Wedding time!
This is how the alter is set up but with more chairs and white rose petals strewn on the carpet.
This is Bella's dress. We all know Bella is pretty laid back, nothing fancy. Plus, she is pregnant and didn't want anything tight around her tummy *wink wink*
This is Alice's dress. It's more form fitting with a little extra bling. Alice toned it down for Bella's sake as the girls wanted to be coordinated to a certain extent.

These are Jasper and Alice's matching Trinity Knot engagement ring/wedding bands. They are all 14k White Gold. The engagement ring has a .25 princess cut diamond and the wedding band has a total of 10ct diamonds in it.
These are Edward and Bella's wedding bands. They didn't want anything fancy as she already has a very distinct engagement ring that her beloved designed for her. These are 14k yellow and white gold bands with a .10 princess cut diamond in his ring.
Mr. and Mrs. Masen *swoon*
This is their wedding cake. Imagine that the flowers on the second tier are rearranged so that the toppers can be placed there.
Seriously, how could I NOT go with this wedding topper for our Helios and Bella???
And of course this is our sweet Jasper and Alice.
And if you want, we'll share this life
Anytime you need a friend I'm gonna be by your side
When nobody understands you, well, I do

Chapter 24 Teaser

Edward set their bags down and approached her. He smirked before taking her hands in his and pulling her against him. Their lips touched and he kissed her so intently that Bella’s knees actually felt weak. Bella was perfectly content to just strip off her clothes and jump into the bed but then she wouldn't be able to use the sexy lingerie she had bought for the occasion.

“I want to freshen up, Helios,” she murmured.

“Me too,” he replied, pecking her forehead and then stepping away from her.

Bella stared at him dumbfounded as she watched him dig into his suitcase for a bag and walk into the bathroom with it. She didn't contemplate it any further as she began rummaging through her own bag, grabbing the negligรฉe she had picked out for the first night of their honeymoon.

"He's gonna love this!" she smiled happily.

Bella now sat on the edge of the bed having already changed. She glanced at the bathroom door, her hand running over the silky smooth material covering her stomach. Edward had been in the bathroom for more than fifteen minutes. Chewing her lip she walked over to the bathroom.

“Helios,” Bella knocked on the bathroom door. “I thought it was customary for the chick to take all night in the bathroom,” she giggled nervously.

Edward stared at himself in the mirror. “This is ridiculous!” he mumbled.

“Helios, come out, come out, wherever you are,” she tapped on the door again.

“Just a second,” Edward replied and blew out a breath.

“Okay, I’ll, umm, just hang out on the bed, waiting for my husband to join me.”

Bella giggled and turned again, heading to the bed. She quickly gathered the pillows and leaned back on them, striking a sexy pose. When the door opened she leaned up on her elbows slightly and gasped. Sexy pose, gone and done with. She stumbled to the edge of the bed as he started walking towards her.

“Fuck me,” Bella muttered.

Chapter 23: Karma is a ...

So lets take a moment to say farewell and good riddance to the not so dearly departed Senator Scumbag (aka Michael Newton, Sr.)... You got what was coming to you!

Tuesday, July 15, 2014

Chapter 23 Teaser

The day had been long. He had been in meetings with his lawyers, trying to determine his best course of action. With Martine gone he was basically free. There was nothing but circumstantial evidence against him. Nothing that could be proven legally beyond a reasonable doubt. Unfortunately, that didn't matter for his constituencies. He had been told that there were inquiries being made from his district about removing him from office. He knew that legally that wouldn't happen but he also recognized the implications of it all. He would not be re-elected which meant he would not become governor which in turn meant that his bid to an eventual presidency was now null and void.

Senator Newton glanced out the window briefly and washed his hand over his face as the realization of his circumstances hit him like a sledgehammer. This is Whitlock’s doing. Whitlock! Every time he thought of either of them his blood boiled. It was because of them that all of this was happening. He needed retribution. They would not go unpunished. Before he could contemplate this further his town car screeched to a stop.

“What’s going on? Why are we stopping?” Newton asked his driver.

“We…”

The driver wasn't able to finish his sentence as a gun shot was fired and he fell to the side. Soon the driver's window was broken with the butt of a gun. He heard the lock click up and the passenger door was opening. Two men slid inside the vehicle. One in the backseat and one in the front seat. A large man in dark jeans and t-shirt, with a knitted cap on his head, slipped into the backseat. He had an assault rifle in his hand that was pointed directly at him. The man in the front seat was slim, also in a dark shirt and knitted cap. He leaned over the back of the front seat and smiled at him. It was a peculiar smile and out of place considering the circumstances. Why aren't they wearing masks? He wondered.

“I have money,” Newton said arrogantly.

The man in the front seat laughed and nodded his head. “Let’s go for a ride, Senator.”

Chapter 22: All of Me

The Los Angeles County Museum of Modern Art
Since its inception in 1965, LACMA has been devoted to collecting works of art that span both history and geography and represent Los Angeles's uniquely diverse population. Today, the museum features particularly strong collections of Asian, Latin American, European, and American art, as well as a contemporary museum on its campus. With this expanded space for contemporary art, innovative collaborations with artists, and an ongoing Transformation project, LACMA is creating a truly modern lens through which to view its rich encyclopedic collection.
This is actually another exhibit but its how I pictured the "Healing from Within: Using Art to Rebuild the Mind and Soul" exhibit.
I couldn't resist throwing this picture in here. This was when Robert attended the LACMA Art & Film Gala on October 27, 2012
What would I do without your smart mouth?
Drawing me in, and you kicking me out
You've got my head spinning, no kidding, I can't pin you down
What's going on in that beautiful mind
I'm on your magical mystery ride
And I'm so dizzy, don't know what hit me, but I'll be alright

Chapter 22 Teaser

“Shhh,” Alice said to Claire who had a bad case of the giggles.

“Okay, okay,” she stated, muffling her mouth.

Both girls tiptoed out into the aisle and carefully moved down, trying to steer clear of Jasper and Seth. They had all wanted some fresh air and decided to hang around the Urban Light exhibit out front, at least for a little bit. The next thing they knew the girls had kicked off their heels and they were all chasing one another through the exhibit and now Seth and Jasper were hiding, somewhere.

“Got ya,” Seth yelled, jumping out and grabbing Claire’s waist.

Claire screamed and dropped her shoes, while Seth laughed and proceeded to tickle her. Alice grinned and tried to sneak around another light posts but ran right into Jasper. He picked her up and kissed her on the cheek.

“Got ya, too,” he said with a smirk.

Alice laughed and held him tightly. They had had a wonderful evening so far. She smiled and nestled her head in the crook of his neck, thinking how this would be perfect if Edward and Bella were with them at that very moment.

“I think we should go back inside and check on Edward and Bella,” Jasper suggested as he set her down.

“Did you see how many people kept going back to his paintings?” Alice asked. "They loved them." She smiled, extremely proud of her friend.

Seth and Claire walked up to them, hand in hand. “That’s ‘cause everyone knows that Edward’s bad ass with some serious talent.”

Seth dropped Claire's hand so she could put her shoes back on. He was having fun but he wanted to go back inside so they could all hang with Edward and Bella. Alice also started putting her shoes back on.

“Looks like you all are having fun?” a voice said, coming up to them.

Jasper turned abruptly, recognizing the voice. “Why the fuck are you here?”

Chapter 21 Teaser

“You’ll wrap it up real good?” Edward asked with a raised brow.

Jasper rolled his eyes and nodded, “Yes, dad.”

Edward crossed his arms and Jasper laughed.

“You know, you have that scolding look down, Edward. Now all you need to do is knock Bella up and you’ll be all set.”

Edward laughed. “Well, I am trying,” he replied with a smirk.

“I’m sure you are,” Jasper winked. “Three, four, five times a day. Ya know, whatever it takes,” Jasper replied, readjusting his coveralls.

“Was that the key, Jasper, ‘cause you sure got Alice knocked up right away.”

“I’m surprised she didn’t have triplets with the amount of seed I was planting,” Jasper said, wagging his brows.

“I’m shocked I have any semen left after the amount of fucking Bella and I are doing.”

“I can’t believe you guys are talking about this,” Seth shook his head.

“Edward, don’t be so vile around Seth,” Jasper mocked, covering Seth’s ears. “His delicate nature can’t handle it.”

Seth laughed and pushed him away. “Fuck you. I can handle it just fine. I just never heard two dudes talking about knocking girls up. I thought only women talked about shit like that.”

“Oh really?” Edward said standing up.

“So you’re calling us women?” Jasper asked trying to look angry but not pulling it off.

Seth looked between the two of them as they started to approach him. He raised his hands in surrender.

“I’m not saying it’s bad, just you know… shit!”

Seth darted out of the way as Edward and Jasper leaped at him. He started running around the bikes and then was corned by Edward and Jasper.

“Come on man, we got bikes to finish,” Seth yelled, once again raising his hands.

“We own the joint,” Jasper smiled.

“Which means we can take a break and fuck you up,” Edward finished.

“Wait! Wait! Wait!” Seth couldn't stop grinning.

Seth tried to bob and weave away from them but they were too fast for him. All three were laughing incredible hard, so much so that Seth was actually bent over out of breath. Jasper seeing an opportunity came at him and brought him to the ground like an MMA prize fighter. Edward grinned as Seth screamed out. He pounced on his legs while Seth wiggled underneath them both, trying his best to get loose, all the while laughing and screaming that he was going to piss himself. Before things got too carried away the bell to the garage went off. All three of them stopped horsing around and turned towards the door. A short woman with graying hair stepped inside and Edward smiled.

“Holy shit!” Edward said getting to his feet and brushing his hair back.

Chapter 20 Teaser

Bella watched Edward dart out of the room. Carlisle started to rise but Bella was already following him. She caught up to Edward at the mural and touched his back to let him know she was there. He turned sharply and grabbed her, pushing her against the wall. He kissed her hard and as quickly as it started he stopped for he didn't want to use sex like that either. He hesitantly rested his head on her shoulder, breathing in deeply, and trying to calm down. She immediately brought her hands into his hair and started massaging his scalp softly, knowing that this was something that had calmed him in the past.

“None of this is your fault, Edward.”

He swallowed thickly but didn't say anything. He wasn't sure what was worse, seeing the visuals of what had happened or watching Jasper have a panic attack. In spite of what Bella was saying, he knew that he was partially to blame. His temper had always caused a lot of problems for him including this one. In his mind, everything bad that had happened to them stemmed from from him fighting Mike almost two years ago.

“Let’s talk about this, Helios.”

He still didn't answer. Bella had been watching his reactions and knew that he was getting in his head again. He had been doing so well but anything that concerned her, Jasper, Carlisle, well, any of the people he cared deeply for, rocked him to his core. This was the first true test of what he had learned in therapy. This was a situation that involved Jasper and knowing what had happened to him. It was just the type of thing that would send him spiraling into self-doubt and worthlessness.

“Edward?”

He began to kiss along her neck softly, tenderly and Bella almost cried. Of course that wasn't new for her. The last few weeks she wanted to cry all the time. It had gotten so bad that commercials made her weepy. He finally looked up at her. His eyes were softer, calmer as he brushed his lips against hers.

“I’m sorry if I scared you.”

“You don’t have anything to be sorry about. Are you okay?”

He rested his forehead against hers as his eyes closed. “I’m trying hard not to blame myself for all of this.”

“It’s not your fault.”

“Old habits die hard I guess.”

Chapter 18 Teaser

Edward kneeled, concentrating on the painting before him. His paint brush lay securely in his mouth as he pushed his hair out of his face with the palm of his hand. He took the corner of the sponge and dabbed lightly around the edges of the figure, making it blend further into the background. There were footsteps approaching and he knew that someone was now standing behind him but didn't stop what he was doing.

“How are things coming along Edward?”

He set the sponge down and removed the paint brush from between his lips. “I think I’m about done.”

He stood up and looked at Carol, the therapist. She was a short woman with a full head of gray hair. She was an interesting character that always wore a smock and a pair of reading glasses around her neck on a beaded chain. She had told them that she had been a painter before deciding to go back to school to become a therapist, later in life. When she found that there were actual art therapy programs she knew it was her perfect fit and it became her calling. She had used herself as an example of how sometimes something unexpected can change your life forever.

She was considering the painting before her, taking it all in. She had asked the group last week to paint their addiction. Many had done a lot of rudimentary type displays. All of them were good and representative of the individual’s concepts of their addiction but Edward didn't complete his. He had asked if he could still work on it. Knowing that he had a proclivity for art she agreed and gave him a pass on the newest assignment so he could finish this one. She did not regret that decision one single bit. The painting was magnificent.

“Carol,” Edward said nervously.

“Tell me about it,” she finally choked out, already moved by the images in the painting.

Chapter 17 Teaser

“Stop Bella,” Edward said, letting his finger work between her teeth to release her lip.

“I hate this.”

Edward sighed and stopped packing. “Bella, I don’t want to leave either but I don’t feel strong enough to beat this shit.”

“But you are.”

He smirked and stood between her legs. He then lifted her up and laid her on the bed, settling between her legs. His lips touched hers as he kissed her softly. When she started to deepen it he pulled back slightly and rolled off of her. He blew out a breath as he brought his left arm up. He gave Bella a concerned look before taking her hand and running it up and down his arm.

“Every day since I awoke this arm has felt like it’s on fire. And this vein,” he forced her finger along it. “It feels like its pulsing. It’s so extreme to me that I keep thinking people can see it or hear it like I can but then I realize no one else does. Bella, I swear it feels like I’m going crazy.”

“You’re not.”

“Maybe, while I’m away they can help me deal with it. I hope so but if anything, I know that while I’m there I’m not gonna use,” he let his fingers trace along her cheek. “I don’t want to be your dad Bella. I don’t want to lie to you about how bad it is.”

“Edward.”

“No, listen, baby. I think I know what your dad felt like. He loved your mom and I believe he was happy and he saw that she was happy. I don’t think he had the heart to tell her he had relapsed or how bad it was for him. Eventually it became too hard to resist.”

He wiped the tears she was shedding.

“I won’t do that to you.”

“Helios, I…”

“I’m having a hard time, Bella,” he said cutting her off. “Every ounce of me is fighting this but I’m still thinking and dreaming about it. I’m afraid to be alone. I’m afraid it will see my weakness and take me.” He looked down and breathed out deeply. “The last time I quit I was locked up. I didn't have access so there was safety in that. I need that kind of isolation. Please tell me you understand.”

She nodded and pulled him down to her. She kissed him hard, letting the passion she always felt for him be released...

Chapter 16 Teaser

Edward was overcome with sadness and despair. His world felt like it was crumbling around him. He had no way to describe what was going on within him. The battle raging for his soul. All he knew was that it felt as if he were in an alley and there was activity all around him. Left and right people were telling him to come with them. Saying that they knew the way. They told him that they could take his pain away and make his sorrow vanish into thin air. He was confused but then noticed something towards the end of the alley. Ahead of him was a figure. It was indiscernible but yet still familiar. In his heart he knew who it was. He couldn't see the figures face but he was certain that it was Bella. She was reaching her hand out to him, beckoning him but his feet wouldn't move.

“I love you so much, Helios. We've been through everything together and we will get through this as well. Don’t give up, baby, please. We can do anything as long as we are together,” Bella pleaded for him to come back to her.

He looked down and in his hand was his tried and true kit. How did that get here? He wondered as he turned it in his hand. It was the one he had used from the very beginning. The one he never shared. His only friend during the darkest of times. He kneeled down and opened his kit. The familiarity was comforting. He immediately took out the needle, starring at it with both longing and despair. He heard a sound and was distracted by it. He stood up and looked around trying to ascertain where the noise was coming from. That’s when he realized it was emanating from the figure ahead of him. He dropped the needle and kit and tried to focus on the figure he had determined was Bella. He suddenly found his feet moving towards her and what sounded like singing.

Chapter 14 Teaser

“Bella, I love you.”

Bella’s eyes shot open. She immediately looked at Edward but he was still unmoving. She sighed having realized she had been dreaming. She heard snoring in the room and turned to see Seth, curled in a ball in the other chair that they had brought in for him. She grinned. He had sweet talked one of the nurses, convinced her that he needed to watch over Bella. That he was like her bodyguard. The nurse initially said no but Seth’s persistence paid off. That and his boyish good looks.

Bella turned back to Edward. He was still very pale and sickly. His blood pressure was not going down like the doctors had hoped but there wasn’t a lot they could do with his medication restrictions.

“Helios, baby, please come back to me. I need you so much.”

Bella held his hand and then panicked as the alarms by his bed began going off. Soon, the nurses and the overnight doctor were rushing in.

"Edward," Bella cried.

There was a loud thump and Bella turned to see that Seth had actually fallen out of his chair. He jumped up to assess what was happening and quickly pulled Bella back and out of the way so the doctors could tend to Edward.

"Edward," was all Bella could say.

Seth held her as they worked on his friend. Edward's heart rate peaked to a dangerously high level and he was going into cardiac arrest. Bella wrapped her arms around Seth, needing comfort and warmth and most importantly, reassurance...

Chapter 13 Teaser

She felt a hand on her shoulder and looked up.

“Hello, Bella,” Jacob smiled.

“Get away from me,” Bella seethed as she slapped his hand away.

He grinned further, “Bella, I’m here to help.”

“Bullshit, Jacob. Leave me alone.”

“Bella, we need to talk. We have court on Monday and there are a lot of things that need to be discussed.”

Bella glared at him. “I have nothing to say to you.”

Jacob turned in his seat so that he was facing her. He casually unbuttoned his jacket, relaxing his posture. Bella watched, annoyed that he was there. She was worried about Edward and didn't want to deal with Jacob. He placed his arm along the back of the chair and smiled that arrogant smile he wore consistently.

“Bella, you have no attorney, no,” he rolled his eyes, “fiancรฉ to help you.” She started to say something but he shook his head. “But what you do have is me. I can help you.”

“The only way you can help me is by leaving.”

“Bella,” he chastised.

“No, don’t, Bella, me. I’m certain you and Newton did something illegal.” She leaned closer to him. “I don’t want to be associated with any of you.”

“Bella, it’s in your best interest to meet with me.” He grinned and leaned back. “Especially now that Alec is dead. He oversaw the case, that, you’re name is also on. I can help you out of this situation. Don’t you see that?”

“I wouldn't be in this situation if it weren't for you.”

“Be that as it may you are in this and it behooves you to ignore a welcoming hand that is being offered.”

Bella’s brows furrowed. “You guys are trying to set me up but its not going to happen. I’m not an idiot.”

“Of course you’re not Bella. If you were I wouldn't have wanted you to work for me.”

“You wanted me with you for other reasons Jacob. Don’t act otherwise.”

He laughed. Damn, we would have been great together, he thought with a grin. Providing he could have tamed her fire. But then again, maybe her fire would have been interesting. He almost hated to break her down but he had to. It was her or them. He wasn't about to go down for this. Finally, he ran his hand along his chest, lightly tapping above his heart as he tried to be serious again.

“This doesn't have to be adversarial, Bella. Let’s get together and talk.” He pulled out a business card from inside his breast pocket and placed it in her hand. “I promise. I’ll be good.” He added with a wink before rising from his seat.

Chapter 12 Teaser

“Edward is there something you need to tell me?”

“No, why do you ask that?”

“Because you look like there is.” When he didn’t respond she asked, “Are you going to tell me what Eleazar said?”

Edward tried his best not to smirk or laugh but Bella’s attempt to look fierce was not coming off very well. She crossed her arms and huffed angrily. He glanced outside to thwart his snicker knowing that would only anger her more. The sidewalks were crowded. It didn’t matter day or night there were always a host of people moving about and cars following close behind the ones ahead of them. Always busy, always rushed. In a hurry for who knew what. When he turned back to Bella she was still posed in exactly the same manner she had been when he first turned.

“He thinks maybe Newton was responsible for what happened at the shop.” She relaxed her stance and he continued. “He told me to keep an eye on you.”

“He thinks Newton was behind it? How?” Edward shrugged. “I don’t know Bella but I think he’s right about Newton. He’s the only one that hates both me and Eleazar. What better way to hurt us then to hurt Jasper.”

“Yeah, but…” she looked down biting her lip.

“What can I get ya?” the waitress asked, standing next to the table. “Two western omelets and a coffee for me and a Mochachino for her,” Edward said quickly.

When she walked away Bella spoke. “He’s a Senator. If people found out he did something like that he’d be ruined. And for what? Because he doesn't like us.”

“Bella, people have murdered for lesser things.” He smiled as the waitress poured them coffee. He took a sip and then stared across at Bella. “You and I both know that Newton and Jacob cooked the books. If I were to guess there is a lot of money on the line which means I don’t put anything past them.”

“I guess you’re right. So if Eleazar can’t come I guess we’re back to contacting one of those other attorneys.”

“Eleazar said he would find a way to help us. But yes, I think we need to contact those attorneys when we get back to the hotel.”

“Okay,” Bella said as the waitress brought over their plates of food.

There was no talk as they both devoured their breakfast. With full stomachs and a head full of caffeine they felt good, ready to take on the world and problem solve this situation. As they walked down the street they felt cheerful and optimistic.

“Bella, I need to talk to you."
